Existing Condition Evaluation of Overhead Water Tank (Tower) Enclosure and impact of proposed construction work on its Structural Stabilit. An eighteen-story residential building with masonry water tank (tower) enclosure at the top. The building is owned and operated by NYCHA. Existing condition evaluation of existing tower performed to determine the possible impact of on-going and proposed construction on the tower. A detailed investigation of existing concealed and exposed damages on the structure was performed. Cause of increase in the degree of deterioration in the recent past was discovered. Findings about the existing conditions on all enclosure’s structural and non-structural members were made. Determination about the impact of proposed work (which was under a bid awarded a few years ago with no commonsense of work yet, though) was made. A presentation about the evaluation was presented to the project team including NYCHA’s officials.
